June 14, 2009 — On Sunday, June 14, 2009 at 1:00pm Woodland Cemetery turned 156 years-old. We celebrated the Ohio Historical Marker Dedication and Living History Tour.

2008 — 23rd Ohio Monument Landscaping Project One of the many other projects we worked towards in 2008 was the re-landscaping of the 23rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry monument back to the late 1800's style that was surrounded by boxwood hedges. This is one of the first Civil War monuments in the country.

2008 — Ohio Historical Marker for Woodland Cemetery Help us put Woodland Cemetery on the map!! Thank you!! We want to thank everyone who were so gracious in helping us achieve our goal in raising funds for the Ohio Historical Marker.

August 2, 2008 — We celebrated the 1st Annual Historic Cemetery Scavenger Hunt/Poker Run/Car Cruise on August 2, 2008 at 10:00am. This was a joint cemetery alliance with Woodland Cemetery Foundation of Cleveland, Ohio, Monroe Street Cemetery Foundation and Ohio Cemetery Alliance.

May 26, 2008 — Memorial Day 2008 Honoring James Franklin Gayle.  Mr. Gayle was a WWII US Navy musician and the first black photographer for the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

May 28, 2007 — We celebrated a wonderful 2007 Woodland Cemetery Decoration Day (Memorial Day) ceremony in conjunction with the Soldiers' & Sailors' Monument. For the Decoration Day ceremony at Woodland Cemetery we restored two gravesites of notable Civil War veterans. Please click on this link for information regarding the Eagle Project Restoration. We honored nearly 2,100 veterans from the War of 1812 to a recent veteran burial in 2004.

May 24, 2006 — Woodland Cemetery turned 150-years old June 14, 2003. The ceremony was wonderful and all had a great time. Wednesday May 24, 2006
The Memorial Day Association and many volunteers placed flags on veteran graves in Woodland Cemetery. Channel 3 (WKYC) was very kind to air our efforts and the Cleveland Plain Dealer wrote an article appearing in the May 25th edition. See the video from Channel 3.
